Biography
Amanda is a harpist with over 15 years experience based out of the Hartford, CT area. During that time she has traveled all over the Northeast as a freelance harpist for weddings, receptions, solo and ensemble recitals, orchestras and musicals, corporate events, graduations and other special occasions. Amanda has played professionally with the Ohio Light Opera, and at the historic Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT. Recently she became part of Trio Cantabile, a harp, piano and voice trio playing concerts year round in New England. Amanda plays a concert grand harp, which is capable of producing more complex and diverse pieces than the smaller celtic harps.
In 2008 Amanda received her Master’s Degree in harp performance from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where she was the Teaching Assistant for the harp department under the direction of Kathleen Bride. While living in upstate New York she was also on faculty at Houghton College, where she was the Instructor of Harp. She continues to teach harpists of all levels in her own studio. Amanda obtained her Bachelor’s degree in harp performance from the Crane school of Music, where she studied with Dr. Jessica Suchy-Pilalis. Originally from Connecticut, Amanda completed pre-college studies at the Hartt School and earned a Performer’s Certificate. Amanda first became interested in harp while living overseas in Ankara, Turkey, where she began studying with the harpists who played background music for the tourists at local hotels.
